My story

[p]Hi Guys,[/p][p]So on the 8th of September this year I will be running the Great North Run for the TOFS charity. This amazing charity offers endless advice and support to individuals and parents born unable to swallow. The charity is run by Parents and Grandparents who have been through it themselves, and offers emotional and practical support.[/p][p]The reason I am running in aid of TOFS is because my daughter, Evie, was born with this condition back in 2016. She had her oesophagus repaired very soon after her birth and spent the first 8 months in hospital with the odd little period out. She had a tough start, and we all had a lot to learn, but with the help of the hospital staff and TOFS, we gained all the knowledge and skills needed to ensure Evie was supported safely. [/p][p]Just before her first birthday, she came to live with my partner, Saskia, and myself. She had spent a little time out of hospital at this point and was really starting to get better. In just a few months she was fully leading the way and showing us everything she was capable of! In June 2018, it was decided to trial her without her feeding tube, and boy did she jump at the opportunity! Trying any food she could get her hands on, she soon learned her favorite foods; in fact, there isn't much she won't eat! [/p][p]Evie is now 2 and a half years old, and is such a beautiful, happy and clever little girl! I am beyond proud of her for where she is now, and what she has overcome and where she wil go in the future! she is becoming a great role model for her little brother, and they are already getting up to mischief as only siblings can! [/p][p]So, if you could help me to say a massive Thank You to the guys and girls at TOFS, it would be hugely appreciated as they are a valuable pillar of support to any parent finding out their child was born unable to swallow! It can e very scary! [/p][p]Your donation, no matter how much, will be graciously received and importantly, will provide me with the motivation go out there and smash it for Evie and all the other TOFS and their families![/p][p]Thank You,[/p][p]Matt[/p]
