My story

[p]Hello everyone,[/p][p]My name is Martha and I am 3 years old.[/p][p]I wanted to raise some money for a local charity that I love so my Mammy suggested I run a race.  So I have entered the Great North Mini Run with my Mammy.  It is only 1.5km but I don't know how far that is.  My Mammy says that I should be able to do it as I run rings around her all day.  She says that it should be a piece of cake.  I like cake.  [/p][p]I don't think I will win but I will try my best, it is the first time that I have done a race.  Mammy says that there will be a lot of boys and girls much bigger than me so just to enjoy the day.  I'm sure that I will.[/p][p]Since I was a really tiny little girl I have helped out in the studio, picking the songs, helping Mammy when she is on air and being her executive producer.  Please take a look at my photos to see me at work. [/p][p]There are a small number of dedicated volunteers who keep the service going, and now they also broadcast 24 hours a day over the internet via www.dhradio.org.uk  [/p][p]The station also supports our local FA WSL team Durham Womens FC and broadcast their home games live from New Ferens Park.  I think that this is brilliant.  We sporting girls have to stick together![/p][p]My friend Eileen and her little friends do a special show for Treetops, the childrens ward at UHND. My Mammy says they are puppets, they are lovely and friendly and are sometimes very cheeky to Eileen.  They go onto Treetops to visit the poorly children and then play them music they ask for.  I would love to get them some new music so that we can make sure they stay happy during their hospital stays.[/p][p]Durham Hospitals Radio is based in University Hospital of North Durham and for the last 52 and a bit years has entertained the patients with great music and chat.  They are self funded and much of the money they raise goes on maintaining and updating the studio equipment which means that new music sometimes has to take a back seat.  [/p][p]I am wanting to raise some money to help them buy the UK Top Ten tracks for the last 3 years and have some left over for future downloads.  It's a big ask but it would be wonderful if you could help me do that![lt]br /[gt][/p][p]If you have a few spare pennies please could you sponsor me?  I may only have little legs but I have a big heart and I will thank you from the bottom of it.[lt]br /[gt][/p][p]Thank you for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]Much love,[/p][p]Martha x[/p][p]#littlelegsbigheart[/p][p][/p][p]POSTSCRIPT[/p][p]Little Martha was a very brave girl.  She was terrified with the loud gun and fireworks at the start line (as we were near the front of the first wave) and she burst into tears, and sobbed for the whole 1.5km.  The rain was coming down like stair-rods and she was soaked to the skin and freezing cold.  But Martha is a trouper and she ran the whole way in just over 12 minutes - which for a little girl just over a metre tall is quite an acheivement. She is already planning to do it again next year! Thank you to all sponsors, the page is still open if anyone else would like to donate.[/p][p][/p][p]Many Thanks,[/p][p]Marthas' Mammy (aka Dawn)[lt]br /[gt][/p][p][/p]
