My story
[p]Hi, Thank you so much for visiting our page.[/p][p]The children and Maureen are going to walk 26.2 miles over the next few weeks to try and raise some money for the Aspergillosis Trust.[/p][p]Since Mal has been diagnosed their website has been our go to for everything Aspergillus related and their community support fab.[/p][p]This is just a small token of support in the fight for more research and awareness of this horrible, chronic disease. [/p][p]Monday 11th May [/p][p]We have completed 6 miles now, just 20.2 to go:) The children are absolutely delighted that people are sponsoring them for their dad:) Thanks again so much:)[/p][p]Thursday 14th May[/p][p]The children are doing great. The weather has been so lovely which has made our walking alot easier! I completely underestimated how far we could walk comfortably without everyone falling apart, so impressed...no meltdowns yet. The longest stretch we have done in one go is 5miles....Lydia is only 4🏃💪[/p][p]13.2 miles to go[/p][p]Thursday 21st May[/p][p]We are down to our last 3 miles!! 🥳[/p][p]I think these may take the longest tho...we are just finding being out on the main road a bit stressful as it is getting busier and not everyone seems to get the 6ft distance or are maybe just not as strict about it as me😬 [/p][p]So we are back to just staying at home and getting our miles round the garden. We all might be a bit dizzy by the end it but the children dont seem to mind too much yet😃[/p][p]Thank you again for your encouragement and/ or donations, they are really appreciated. We had originally hoped to raise £150 and we have exceeded that by far...I think we have all enjoyed the experience and having a focus for our daily walks.[/p][p]Obviously our lives have changed during lockdown but to be completely honest our lives have been slowly getting smaller and more home bound over the last few years as we adjust and re-adjust to the limitations a chronic and at times completely debilitating disease brings. [/p][p]I think any rare disease brings with it an added pressure of it being completely misunderstood and unheard of...."what's that you say now??" We reacted exactly the same way:)[/p][p]So Thank you so much again and if our little part brings some extra cash and awareness then we have accomplished exactly what we stepped out to do:) xx[/p][p]Monday 1st June[/p][p]My goodness that heat is wild but we are DONE!! The children put in a great effort, we are sooo proud of them:) [/p][p]Lockdown is easing, its a new month and who knows what's ahead of us but hopefully the children will remember their virtual marathon and maybe they will cross the finishing line of a real race someday:) [/p][p]Thanks again for your support:)[/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p][p][br][/p]
