My story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting my page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]Epilepsy doesn’t have the profile of other illnesses. However, for a child it can be incredibly debilitating and the courage, and resilience a child needs to manage it is inspiring. But one wishes they didn’t have to develop those skills so soon and so deep. And then…and then, there are their families, who, like any with a child who has an illness, are doing the travelling to various hospitals, dealing with the different consultants and finding the courage to bounce back when a certain treatment doesn’t work. That’s wear and tear on family life. Siblings must learn fast that there are times when the attention simply can’t be on them. Daisy Garland helps with all of this and it can be something as seemingly simple as an ‘alarm blanket’ that awakes a parent when a child might be about to, or having, a seizure. This can allow a parent some rest from trying to be alert 24/7.[/p][p]My half marathon running, though frequent, is not glorious. My 11 year old son described my last effort as: ‘…just embarrassing..’ So…..I am training harder and better, but, as ever, completing is the key. Your support will make a massive difference to a number of families and will enable me to run (hopefully!) hard when I need to.[/p][p][/p]
