Team story
[p]Help McCreas reach our 2019/20 fundraising target for our nominated Charity Partner, British Heart Foundation in Scotland! [/p][p]Our fundraising for BHF Scotland is almost at a close for 2019/2020, however there is still time to donate! 🧡[/p][p]Well done to our "De-Chox" team of staff members Ashleigh, Jonathan, Elaine D, Elaine H, Gillian O'D, Emily, Gillian C, Lesley and Gillian T who "sent chocolate packing" for the month of March 2020. They have all earned their Easter eggs this year! 🍫[/p][p]🥳 Congratulations are in order for Douglas McCrea who smashed his 2019 “super-challenge” by completing both the Cowal Way and the Arran Coastal Way, involving 200km of hill walking 🌄, tree climbing🌳 and scrambling over various obstacles which racked up an impressive count of 245,753 steps 👟👟 over 9 days! Unfortunately, due to good old Scottish weather, the elusive paraglide still remains to be conquered! [/p][p]Why we've chosen British Heart Foundation in Scotland this year: [/p][p]British Heart Foundation’s research might start with the heart, but doesn't stop there. Their research is unlocking the connections between heart and circulatory diseases and their risk factors. [/p][p]There are 670,000 people living with heart and circulatory disease in Scotland. That’s more than double the number living with cancer and dementia combined. It costs the NHS over £800 million a year.[/p][p]This month in Scotland, 2,100 people will go to hospital because of a heart attack, of whom nearly a quarter will sadly die; 25 babies will be born with congenital heart defects.[/p][p]In total, 1,250 people will lose their lives to Cardio Vascular Disease in Scotland, of whom 380 will be under the age of 75. [/p][p]At the Glasgow Centre of Research Excellence, Professor Rhian Touyz and her team are hoping to come up with ways to prevent heart attacks using innovative research approaches.[/p][p]Our support will help Glasgow scientists to investigate blood vessel damage caused by chronic conditions like obesity and diabetes, root causes of heart and circulatory diseases. Researchers are using cutting-edge technology to study blood vessel damage, and find ways to repair or treat them.[/p][p]About McCreas:[/p][p]McCrea Financial Services have been providing professional financial planning advice and assistance to individuals, businesses and charities since they were formed in 1999 by Managing Director, Douglas McCrea.
