Team story

[p]🐕 Help McCrea reach our fundraising target for our nominated Charity Partner, Guide Dogs Scotland! 🐕[/p][p]Why we've chosen to support Guide Dogs Scotland:[/p][p]When someone loses their sight, Guide Dogs Scotland is there to make sure they don’t lose their freedom as well.[/p][p]- Childhood sight loss is on the increase. There are around 35,000 children and young people living with a vision impairment in the UK.[/p][p]- Despite the devastation caused by sight loss, 70% of adults receive no support within the first 12 months of diagnosis[/p][p]- In 2018, it cost around £63,000 to breed, train and support a guide dog from birth to retirement. [/p][p]A guide dog can change the life of a person living with sight loss by enabling them to travel independently and with confidence. Guide Dogs Scotland aim to make sure all people with vision impairments can live their lives to the full.[/p][p]Find out more about our support of Guide Dogs Scotland here. [/p][p]Charity Golf Day [/p][p]We were delighted to be able to hold our Annual Charity Golf Day at The Duke's, St Andrews on the 9th September in aid of Guide Dogs Scotland. [/p][p]With everybody's generosity throughout the day in the Charity Raffle, Mystery Fourballs or managing to land in the penalty bunkers (some people multiple times!), we were able to raise just over £15,000 for the charity. [/p][p]To read more about how the day went then click here. [/p][p]Annual Charity Walk[/p][p]After two cancellations due to COVID restrictions, McCrea Managing Director Douglas McCrea was finally able to go ahead with his Annual Charity Walk and complete the Dava Way and Moray Coast Trail back-to-back, totalling 108 kilometres - a long way for someone with a dodgy hip! [/p][p]Douglas started his walk in Grantown on his birthday on the Monday 2nd August, and certainly did not ease himself in, walking 25km on the first day. The Dava Way was completed on the second night in Forres, having walked 40 kilometres in the first two days. [/p][p]Wednesday morning saw Douglas start the Moray Coast Trail; starting where he left off in Forres, the next four days included nightly stops in Burghead, Lossiemouth and Portgordon. Most of the walk went to plan apart from the Friday, where Douglas had to call his day to a halt after yellow weather warnings brought a monsoon that even Douglas couldn't battle through![/p][p]The last day saw Douglas finish his walk on Saturday night in Cullen, bringing the total distance walked to 108km (67 miles) and over 150,000 steps. [/p][p]If you would like to read Douglas' blog on how he got on, then click here. We would be delighted if you could support Douglas' effort by donating to our page to raise funds for Guide Dogs Scotland. [/p][p]About McCreas:[/p][p]McCrea Financial Services have been providing professional financial planning advice and assistance to individuals, businesses and charities since they were formed in 1999 by Managing Director, Douglas McCrea.[/p][p]Based in Glasgow, but serving the whole of the UK, as well as clients abroad, McCrea pride themselves on providing a professional and friendly financial planning service.[/p][p]As part of a commitment to the city where it all started, McCrea Financial Services are sponsors of a number of Glasgow based sporting teams including Glasgow Warriors and Partick Thistle and work very hard to provide charitable support with almost £600,000 now donated to our nominated charities over the years.[/p]
