Team story

[p]Garden Fields Cricket Club - also known as "Men of Fields" (or "MoF" for short) is a collection of Dads with children at Garden Fields School in St Albans. Some of us are cricketing gentlemen, some proper players and the rest, well let's just call them “useful chaps”. We undertake a large charitable walk together every two years. Early July 2019 will see our 3rd event in this series. We have raised over £60,000 in all our pursuits to date and now we want to do more.[/p][p]The 2019 event is "The Ridgeway" walk of 85 miles. It follows a route used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers. This walk is dedicated to the friends and families of MoFs who have been affected by cancer - and all those living with cancer everywhere. The two local charities which will benefit are dear to our hearts - Rennie Grove Hospice Care and the Hospice of St Francis - and your generous donations will be divided evenly between them.[/p][p]Please help us by making a donation to these causes! Thank you from all at Garden Fields Cricket Club![/p][p]Background info ....[/p][p]More about us - Our children attend Garden Fields school in St Albans. We play friendly evening matches of 20 overs against similar Dad's teams within the St Albans area.[/p][p]More about the walk - We will start The Ridgeway in Liddington, near the Marlborough Downs in Wiltshire and pass through ancient landscapes through downland, secluded valleys and woodland to end in Ivinghoe Beacon, Buckinghamshire. Additionally, we will continue another 16 miles south-easterly to St. Albans, Hertfordshire (where we live).[/p][p]Previous adventures - In previous years, we've raised money for charity by undertaking challenges such as the L2B bike ride, cycling to Devon from St Albans, walking the circumference of the Isle of Wight and hiking from Weymouth to Exmouth.[/p]
