My story

[p]Team GC Kilimanjaro are a group of crazy girls hoping to inspire others to push their boundaries by sharing an adventure to the rooftop of Africa. Many of us have chosen to support the Murray Parish Trust - a local charity which is very close to our hearts - to give us an extra reason to keep pushing on to the peak.[/p][p]The Murray Parish Trust raise funds to advance paediatric emergency medicine, ensuring that children affected by major trauma have the chance to receive the best possible care. The charity was set up by the actors Sarah Parish and James Murray, in memory of their late daughter Ella-Jayne, who died from congenital heart failure in 2009.[/p][p]To date, the Murray Parish Trust has helped raise over Β£2.5 million for University Hospital Southampton, which serves as the major trauma centre for nine counties and islands across the South of England. This includes funding for a brand new Children's Emergency and Trauma Unit, new bed bays for the PICU, counselling support, and a specialist helicopter gurney to help transport critically ill children via the Air Ambulance Service.[/p][p]The MPT's current fundraising appeals will continue to benefit children from across the region, as it raises money for two vital pieces of equipment for UHS: a state of the art 3D printer which creates perfect models of infant patients' hearts to aid with the diagnosis and surgery for congenital heart problems, and a specialist Intensive Care bed with in-built X-ray and monitoring equipment for the care of critically ill children.[/p][p]Thanks so much from all of us and the Murray Parish Trust for your support - you're keeping us going strong, and you're making a real difference to the care and treatment of children across the South![/p][p]A proportion of the money that I raise will be used to cover my expedition costs, but most of your donation will go directly to the Murray Parish Trust.[/p]
