Ride for Precious Lives 2020 - 21

[p]So, here we are, signed up for the Ride for Precious Lives 2020; training has started and I've managed 134 miles cycling so far this month despite one crash and numerous punctures! Why? Well, my daughter completed the Ride for Precious Lives in 2019 and in supporting her not only did she inspire me to attempt the challenge this year, she also convinced me that the valuable work that CHSW does in the South West for kids and their families needs to be supported. So, I'm excited to be riding with my daughter this year and hope to achieve my fundraising target for this great charity in the process.[/p][p]When working as my alter-ego, Mike J, I'm the bassist for the rock band 'The Rock of Ages Experience' and play music venues and theatres nationwide. For this year, in addition to taking part in the Ride for Precious Lives challenge, I have pledged £30 for each month that the band plays in 2020 to the Ride for Precious Lives fundraising effort.[/p][p][b]18 March 2020[/b] - So, I've just clocked up 300 miles in training for the ride and without any more accidents I'm happy to say! The band is still gigging for the time being but I fear that we will soon see cancellations due to the coronavirus restrictions, however, I'm still going to stick to my commitment to donate whether or not the gigs are cancelled.[/p][p][b]01 July 2020[/b] - Due to the coronavirus lockdown, the ride has been postponed and I will now be riding in July 2021; training has temporarily halted but I'll be back on the road soon![/p][p][b]10 February 2021[/b] - Well, still in lockdown but training about to restart for the ride in July (just need this baltic weather to pass and give way to Spring!). The band is still not gigging yet but I've decided to extend my pledge of £30 per month into 2021 until the music venues re-open (can't wait!!).[/p][p][br][/p]
