[p][b][i]Who we are:[/i][/b][/p][p]Friends of Mithuluni is a project to raise funds to provide clean drinking water for the villagers of Mithuluni in the Eastern Province of Kenya.[/p][lt]p class="InsideMainStory"[gt]“My family from Brackley visited my husband’s family in Kenya and was shocked to see how deprived the villagers are from everyday amenities that we all take for granted here in the UK.[/p][lt]p class="InsideMainStory"[gt]We then took it upon ourselves to make it our mission to provide clean drinking water within the community and support the development of the village.”[b]                                          [/b][b]                                    [/b]Samantha Nyali[/p][p][b][i]About Mithuluni Village:[/i][/b][/p][p]Mithulini is located in the Eastern Province of Kenya with an estimated population of 2,500.[/p][p]There is one river which runs on the outskirts of the village providing water for all the community.[/p][p]Every year the river runs dry between May and October. To survive, individuals have to dig the river bed to obtain water which then has to be sterilised.[/p][p]Once the water has been collected, villagers have a one and a half hour walk back home.
