My story

[p]This September, two Monaghans’ Project Managers will be swapping the office for 3 days of cycling in France, as they take on the John Lewis & Partners Property Department Charity Challenge in support of City YMCA London.[/p][p]City YMCA London provide accommodation, support and a range of detached youth work interventions to young people made homeless. Their vital services cover young people aged 12 to 25 where 25% have left care and 15% have run away from home. The rest are either deemed at risk from their parents, are trying to divert from crime, or have fallen upon hard times. YMCA have been working with young people for 45 years, housing over 10,000 and enabling another 20,000 to become meaningfully engaged through their detached youth work.[/p][p]Inspired by this worthy cause, Adam Pickering and Dariush Ghorbani will be joining a group of Property Partners from our long-term client John Lewis, to tackle the infamous Club des Cinglés du Mont Ventoux. Translated as the “brotherhood of the Ventoux nutters”, the challenge involves climbing Mont Ventoux 3 times in a day from all directions (136km with 4443m of ascent). Mont Ventoux, a bucket-list tick box for cyclists all over the world has become legendary as one of the most gruelling climbs in the Tour de France, with its average gradient of 7.43% and the altitude at summit of 1,911m.[/p][p]Adam and Dariush will be heading to the south of France on the 25th September and would be very grateful of your support. With their entry costs contributed by Monaghans, all online donations will go straight to City YMCA London so please donate to this worthy cause![/p][p]UPDATE:[/p][p]Adam (pictured left) and Dariush (pictured right) have been in full training for the challenge. Last weekend, they cycled 133km with 2142ms of climbing including several Box Hill circuits and Dorking exploration.[/p][p][/p]
