Team story

[p]This year Moore House have chosen Place2Be. They are the leading Uk’s mental health charity providing in school counselling and support to children who are in tough situations such as, neglect family breakdown and abuse as well as supporting parents and staff. They work in schools across England, Scotland and Wales, the need for their services is growing. They work with children between the ages of 4 and 14 because early intervention is crucial in helping to prevent more serious mental health issues later in life as well as helping to breakdown the stigma around mental health. [/p][p]Place2Be helps children to build the resilience  they need to overcome whatever they have faced. Through creative work, talk and play, they give children the opportunity to communicate and explore their problems, and develop coping mechanisms that will enable them to break down emotional barriers.[/p][p]A few weeks ago, 7 members of Moore House had the opportunity to visit Place2Be’s services at St Cuthbert’s Primary School in Glasgow. We got to meet the Place2Be counsellor there and some of the kids who have benefitted from Place2Be’s services. All the kids loved Place2Be as they recognised it as a safe place where they could talk about anything. One boy even thought we were very unlucky because we didn’t have a Place2Be.[/p][p]£7 provides a child with a Place2Talk session. This is a lunchtime support session with a trained counsellor, available to every single child in the schools that they work in.[/p][p] £20 provides a parent with a one-to-one counselling session. By supporting parents, as well as their children, Place2Be can have a positive impact on the whole family. [/p][p]£1,100 provides an entire year of weekly one-to-one counselling sessions for a child in their school. A year of counselling really can change a child’s life.[/p][p]So please get behind Moore this year as we want to try and reach the ambitious target of £4400 to provide 4 children a year of Place2Be counselling. So please help us as we try and help children who have fallen through the cracks have a Place2Be.[/p]
