Team story

[p]Update - 3rd December 2018[/p][p]The Monday after the Friday before and we've done it! What was an idea only a couple of months ago has now come to fruition with colleagues across the whole of L&C working together to raise awareness and funds for homelessness across the UK.[/p][p]Culminating in the actual sleepout when 25 hardy souls braved the elements and gave up their comfy beds for the night, sleeping out at Lansdown Cricket Club in Bath. Whilst not the extreme cold it could have been it was certainly very damp with the heavens opening from 4.30 a.m. It made us all realise how lucky we were to get up and go home that morning when the harsh reality would have been another day on the streets feeling cold, tired and hungry.[/p][p]Thank you to everyone who has contributed to our fundraising in some way - through this page, dressing down for the day, eating loads of lovely cakes it all adds up to a lot of money for our charities. [/p][p]Friday 30th November 2018[/p][p]London & Country Mortgages is proud to participate in the first ever Mortgage Sleep Out. This event aims to bring together the mortgage industry to raise not only money but also awareness of the growing plight of homelessness across the UK. [/p][p]The challenge for the L&C team is to give up their home comforts of a soft bed and warm home for just one night, to gain an insight into the reality that the literally thousands of homeless in our society face every night, and sleep out with just a sleeping bag and cardboard mat on a cold winters night in November. [/p][p]Fundraising Activities[/p][p]As well as the main Sleep Out event, we will also have a number of other fundraising enterprises leading up to the event on 30th November, such as additional ‘mufti’ days, cake sales and big breakfasts and all of the money raised will be added to our total here.[/p][p]The money raised will be split between the National End Youth Homelessness charity and two local homelessness support charities, Julian House in Bath and the Key Project in Newcastle . For more information on any of these charities please visit their websites:[/p][p]End Youth Homelessness: https://www.eyh.org.uk/en/[/p][p]Julian House: https://www.julianhouse.org.uk/[/p][p]Key Project: http://www.keyproject.org.uk/keyproject/[/p][p]You can do you bit too! [/p][p]Please help us raise as much as possible to help these charities to continue their vital work to help people out of homelessness for good.[/p][p]It costs £25 per day to put a roof over a young person’s head and give them the healthcare, education and employment they need to turn their lives around, please do give generously towards this important cause.[/p][p]So thank you in advance for all your donations and particularly to our colleagues who are either taking part in the actual Sleep Out or running one of our pre-event fundraising activities. With a special thank you to Alysha, Emma and Bethannie in Newcastle who have already helped raise over £1200!![/p][p][br][/p]
