My story

[p]Standing at 5,895 metres high - Kilimanjaro is Africa’s highest point and one of the world's greatest adventures. πŸ”[/p][p]Climbing Kilimanjaro is a significant challenge involving long climbs at altitude for several days under very difficult conditions. [/p][p]On 15th September the team, sponsored by Optimis, aim to summit Mount Kilimanjaro and make our Kilimanjaro climb count by raising Β£5895 (a Β£1 or more for every metre climbed) for three very worthwhile charities Sue Ryder, Motor Neurone Disease and The Brain Tumour Charity - by doing so we will be helping others who face even greater challenges in life. [/p][p]Update: We took on the challenge and amazingly the team made it to the summit of Kilimanjaro in the early hours of 15th September! Please support us and our chosen charities. [/p][p]Many thanks, Team JAJA (Justin, Andrew, Joanne and Alan) πŸ”[/p][p]πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”[/p][p]Motor Neurone Disease [gt] [/p][p]After losing my father Tim Baylis to this dreadful disease over 22 years ago, at the young age of 50, Dad remained strong throughout and continued working until the day before he died. I would like to continue to raise funds to support other families suffering from this condition.[/p][p]Taking on this challenge with 3 close friends will fulfil a long term ambition of mine and I feel thankful that I have this opportunity to climb KMJ with my close friends, and support these worthwhile charities.[/p][p]πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”[/p][p]The Brain Tumour Charity [gt] [/p][p]My cousin Chris Morgan passed away from this terrible disease in March 2018. Chris only 59 had a very progressive form of this disease and died within 3 months of it being diagnosed. [/p][p]Climbing Kilimanjaro was one of the achievements Chris wanted to do during his life but sadly died before being able to reach his dream of climbing Africa's summit of 5,895m (19,340 feet).[/p][p]πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”[/p][p]Sue Ryder [gt][/p][p]In 2015 John Wickersham passed away following a 3 month fight from cancer after it sadly returned. John was an incredibly fit and able, clean living dad who spent all his time in the great outdoors. Kilimanjaro was a mountain that we wanted to climb and sadly the chance was taken away. In his place three of my closest friends join me to conquer a beautiful mountain on behalf of Sue Ryder to give a chance for others to fulfil their dreams.[/p][p]πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”πŸ”[/p][p]Optimis [gt][/p][p]β€œOptimis Consulting is delighted to be sponsoring this challenge, as lead sponsor. The team at Optimis have proudly been involved in other mountaineering challenges, but this will set a new β€˜height’ in our ambition to raise funds for very worthwhile causes. Thank you for your support” JW Managing Director of Optimis.[/p]
