My story

[p]Due to the pandemic the previous challenge for VE day on the 8th of May 2020 was postponed, but instead, I am extremely honoured to have been asked to lead the Nation's toast to the heroes of the NHS, social care and frontline workers from the summit of Scafell Pike. This will take place on the 5th July 2021 and we will represent the staff who are constantly playing such a brave and vital role in our battle against the virus.[/p][p]Four women across Great Britain and Ireland were chosen to lead in the toast from the four highest peaks and represent England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland. [/p][p] Scafell Pike is the highest Mountain in England at 978m, it is a tough, steep hike and will involve scrambling over hard terrain. It is also important that I reach the summit before the Nation's Toast at 1pm, being cautious not to get their too early as the weather can be very unpredictable and I could encounter high winds, rain, snow, extreme cold and poor visibility. [/p][p] I am proud to say I have worked in the NHS at the James Paget Hospital for over 25 years and I will be raising funds to assist with enhancing our hospital’s facilities.[/p][p] Every breath and step I make on my ascent to the summit of Scafell Pike, will be in thanks to all the heroes of the NHS and in memory of all those, including my own father, who have died over last year - I will raise a toast especially to you dad.[/p][p] Thank you to all those who have already sponsored me.[/p][p]For more information about the day copy and paste this link:[/p][p]https://www.nhsfrontlineday.org/programme/[/p]
