My story

[p]Hi Everyone,[/p][p]Thank you very much for visiting my page and showing an interest in my charity fundraising for HUNGARIAN VIZSLA WELFARE CHARITY and ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH UK.[/p][p]On the 15th August 2015, I will be travelling to Switzerland in order to climb a few of the 4000m+ Mountain peaks![/p][p]The itinery is as follows[/p] [p]Day 1 Walk through Alpine meadows to a warm welcome at the beautiful Almageller Hut (2894m) - Traverse of the Dri Hornli – one of the best rocky scrambles in the Alps, with great views and perfect granite, so good preparation for the Matterhorn. Overnight in the hut.[/p][p]Day 2  Ascent of the Weismiess (4023m) via the southern ridge – fantastic rocky ridge with an elegant snow crest to finish. The descent follows the same route, to give practice of descent techniques on steep rocky scrambling. Return to Saas and overnight in the valley[/p][p]Day 3 Breithorn (4164m) and Pollux (4092m) can be done on the first day if the weather and conditions allow, go to the Ayas hut (3425m) overnight at the hut.[/p] [p]Day 4  Castor (4228m) is the objective of the day, with a fine snowy crest, and a descent to the Quintino Sella hut (3585m). Overnight in the hut.[/p] [p]Day 5  Travel to the Gnifetti hut (3647m) either via the summit of Liskam (4527m) or by traversing round the side of the mountain. Overnight in the hut.[/p] [p]Day 6  The Margherita hut, at 4569m the highest hut in the Alps, is our destination. Overnight in the hut.[/p] [p]Day 7  Ascent of Monte Rosa. It has two summits – if conditions and fitness allow, it is possible to do both Zumsteinspitze (4563m) and Dufourspitze (4634m). If not, then the lower summit will be achieved. Descend the Grenz glacier to Zermatt.[/p] [p]Day 8  A mellow day, a walk to the new Hornli hut (3260m) on the Matterhorn.[/p] [p]Day 9  Ascent of the Matterhorn via the Hornli ridge, and descent to the valley to celebrate![/p][p]All mountain adventures are weather dependant and in the 2014 season there were very few that summited The Matterhorn. The weather that summer was unusually bad but we are hoping it will be better in 2015. Regardless of the weather we will still be climbing some of the 4000+ peaks so I hope and you will follow me on my adventure and pledge for my chosen charities. [/p][p]All of the money donated will be divided 50/50 with[/p][p]HUNGARIAN VIZSLA WELFARE CHARITY and ALZHEIMER'S RESEARCH UK [/p][p]as the trip itself is funded by myself.[/p][p]This way more money can go to my chosen charities. [/p][p]Once again thank you very much for reading and please donate what you can as every penny will make a difference.[/p][p][/p][p]Nicola [/p][p]X[/p] [p][/p]
