My story

[p]Hello everyone! [/p][p]Thanks for visiting my fundraising page![/p][p]I’m delighted to announce that this fundraising challenge is in aid of the fabulous mental health and wellbeing charity TOUCHSTONE SUPPORT![/p][p]Touchstone Support makes a HUGE difference to thousands of people’s lives with health & wellbeing support, including providing IAPT talking therapy via NHS Leeds mental health services amongst a whole host of other wonderful community projects. [/p][p]Touchstone is a special place.[/p][p]Touchstone’s passion is to secure the rights and entitlements of the people it works with and for. It aims to make the cities more culturally competent and better able to meet the needs of vulnerable people.[/p][p]Touchstone is a major provider of mostly BME services and aims to share resources, knowledge and position of influence with smaller organisations.[/p][p]Touchstone was born out of an identified need for friendship and community in South Leeds in 1982. A Social Worker, Sylvia Landells, and CPN, John Clare, saw that large numbers of vulnerable people were left isolated and distressed out of hours and at weekends, so they set up a “weekend club” which was to grow into Touchstone.[/p][p]More than 30 years later, Touchstone provides mental health and wellbeing services to over 2000 people a year, whilst also working across communities to grow their confidence and capacity to demand the services and positive experiences.[/p][p]Touchstone's vision is to inspire communities and transform lives. [/p][p]~Touchstone provides a range of innovative services that improve health and wellbeing across Yorkshire.[/p][p]~Touchstone is strongly committed to equality, independence and choice.[/p][p]~Touchstone’s services are shaped by the needs of service users.[/p][p]Mental health impacts us all. I feel it’s so important we support our local and regional charities who are making such massive impacts on our lives. Every penny counts so anything that you donate will be most appreciated! [/p][p]Please do have a nosey at their fantastic work:[/p][p]https://www.touchstonesupport.org.uk[/p][p]You can also follow them on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook. I will also bring leaflets and materials about this lovely charity at the March Leeds Steampunk market.[/p][p][br][/p][p]I myself have been been so grateful for accessing their IAPT CBT support through Leeds NHS a few years ago and it was a big part of improving my life and helping me with managing my chronic pain and mental health.[/p][p]1.My online fundraising challenge is on Instagram @craftiesmarkets and FB with an online craft shopping event with fellow Craft Sellers/small businesses selling amazing craft products, gifts, papercraft and jewellery![/p][p]This will take place online on Facebook and Instagram from 11-14 March 2019, 7-10pm.[/p][p]2.My fundraising event for Touchstone Support is going to also be at the Leeds Steampunk Market, Abbeyhouse Museum from 2-3 March 2019! [/p][p]I’ll be running their ‘good cause’ craft stall selling my papercrafts and jewellery, hosting a tombola raffle & I’m donating 15% of all proceeds of sales at my stall from my Naheed’s Sparkle business to this fab charity! [/p][p]3/3/19 UPDATE: I am pleased to say I fundraised a total of £120 for the tombola and donating 15% of my proceeds of sale from my small biz! Thank you to all who took part with donations and stallholders’ prizes![/p][p]**Lets promote the importance of self care, mental health support, wellbeing and happiness in our communities wherever we are!**[/p][p]Warm wishes [/p][p]Naheed [/p]
