My story

[p]As most of you know, I teach modern and tap at Tring Park Associates. Last year we had the devastating news that one of our students, Liberty Schurer had lost her battle with Ewing's Sarcoma and sadly gained her angel wings on October 11th 2017 after a courageous 13 month battle with Ewing's Sarcoma, just 2 weeks after her 14th birthday.[/p][p]Ewing's is a rare and very aggressive form of bone cancer for which survival rates have sadly not improved in over 30 years and treatment protocols remain decades old.[/p][p]Throughout her gruelling treatment, Liberty shone brightly as an inspiration to so many with how bravely and valiantly she battled cancer. She refused to let this cruel disease define her, the dazzling smile for which she was so well known rarely slipping from her face despite everything she had to endure.[/p][p]Liberty's greatest wish upon discovering her cancer had returned and that her prognosis was terminal, was that funds were raised in her name for vital research into this cruel disease. She did not want any other child to suffer as she had, nor any other family to be ripped apart in the same way, nor did she want to be forgotten.[/p][p]And so Liberty's Legacy was born and your continued help is needed so that hopefully we can one day fulfil Liberty's selfless legacy.[/p][p]Shockingly, every 10 minutes, a child, teenager like Liberty, or adult is diagnosed with primary bone cancer, yet just 0,13% of cancer research funding from the major UK charities was spent on primary bone cancer in 2016. Liberty and children and young adults like her deserve so much more and you can support Liberty's Legacy by sponsoring me in the London Landmarks Half Marathon.[/p][p]Liberty has become a legend to those that knew her best, but also a sparkling inspiration to countless others who never had the privilege to meet her. [/p][p]I was affected by Liberty's death far more than I had ever anticipated. Liberty was such a fun-loving, active girl with an infectious cheeky character and although I knew she was seriously ill, it just never crossed my mind that we would lose her.[/p][p]Please help me raise as much money as possible to try to prevent this horrific disease from taking the lives of any more young people.[/p][p]I know there are lots of requests for sponsorship these days, but if every one of my Facebook friends donated just £1, we would be close to target. Think of it as just going without a coffee today![/p]
