My story

[p]I'll be running the London Marathon next month and I'm raising money for two charities. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Ronald McDonald House Charities United Kingdom provide free accommodation and support for the families of children in hospital. I visited their Birmingham house 18 months ago and it's a home-from-home environment, where families can stay together. The biggest hurdle Ronald McDonald House face is lack of understanding. Until you need them, you probably don’t realise they exist. Or if you do, you might think they’re funded by McDonalds, so they don’t need your help.[/p][p][br][/p][p]In fact, that’s not the case. They are the chosen charity for McDonalds, and in 2016 they raised £3 million from collection boxes in McDonalds restaurants. Staff, suppliers and owners of McDonalds restaurants fundraise for them too, but that’s not enough. It costs £25 per night for a family to stay in a Ronald McDonald House. The charity is always striving to make them better and more homely. They also want to build more, and accommodate more families.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Boxer and Bully Saviours - BABS provide a safe haven for boxer and bull breed dogs, of all kinds, who no longer have a home to call their own – dogs who may be at risk of being put to sleep at the pound or dogs given up by their owners due to difficult circumstances and those that are in danger of abuse or neglect. [/p][p][br][/p][p]We got Bubbles from this fantastic charity and we're very grateful to them for looking after her until she came here to her forever home. Whilst she's not allowed to run the race with me, Bubbles will be there every step of the way while I train for the marathon so it would be lovely to give something back to the charity we got her from. [/p][p][br][/p][p]If anybody would like to donate to either charity, they are both incredibly worthy causes. There's an option to post a message when you donate. If your donation is for one of the charities in particular, please mention that in the message. Otherwise it will be split between the two. Thank you! [/p]
