Team story

[p]About the team:[/p][p]Matthew is currently training to become a fully qualified ACCA accountant after graduating from the University of Portsmouth in 2018 with a degree in Accounting and Finance. [/p][p]Ben currently works as an insurance consultant for A-Plan insurance in Worthing Highstreet where he is working towards becoming fully certified and chartered in the coming years.[/p][p]Seth has just graduated from Greater Metropolitan College after attaining a degree in Musical studies where he plays regular gigs across Europe for a band known as Tytan amongst others, and aims to expand upon his musical career.[/p][p][br][/p][p]About our chosen charity:[/p][p]We will be raising money for Coastal West Sussex Mind.[/p][p]They are an independent and local mental health charity who aim to provide advice and support in order to help empower those who are affected by mental health problems.[/p][p]Mental health is a significant illness that affects thousands of people not only in the UK but across the globe. Unfortunately, it is a condition that is somewhat overlooked nor given the proper consideration and respect that it demands. [/p][p]A demographic study conducted by the Mental Health Organisation in 2015 found that mental health problems constitute the ‘largest category of NHS disease expenditure in the UK equating to around £70-100 billion each year which was roughly 13% of the annual NHS budget.[/p][p]https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/publications/fundamental-facts-about-mental-health-2015[/p][p]Far too many people suffer in silence where stigmatisation is one of the greatest challenges facing those with mental health problems. [/p][p]This is not by any fault of their own, but by the way, they believe others will perceive their actions, thinking that disclosing their true state of mind will jeopardise potential job prospects and other opportunities.[/p][p]Each of us has experienced the effects that mental health problems can have on people, be that personally or speaking from experiences with those that we love and care for.[/p][p]It is for this reason that we will be raising money for Coastal West Sussex Mind with the aim to provide support to those in our local community. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Why the Three Peaks?[/p][p]The Three Peaks poses not just a physical challenge to those that attempt it, but a mental challenge as well. We thought it appropriate to attempt such a feat in order to represent those with mental health problems and show that anything can be achieved when you put your mind to it.[/p]
