My story

Hi, thanks for visiting my page.

In March 2011, I and another 5 "lads" are climbing Kilimanjaro for a personal challenge and to raise Charity. Its a big challenge for me as I've never done such a long physical event before. The big unknown is how I will react to the 50% oxygen levels and -15 degrees temperature on summit night at nearly 5,000 metres!

Needless to say there are many people in this world that have much harder things to deal with all day every day and the charity side of this event is equally important to me. I'm choosing 2 charities, the British Heart Foundation and Jewish Care. All donations on this page go to the British Heart Foundation.

I have chosen the British Heart Foundation for both a personl reason and in memory of Paul Delin, a friend who tragically died of a heart attack in 2009. Heart problems seem to affect so many people of all ages and whilst progress is being made in this field there is so much more to do that will help improve the lives of many.

A few months ago my father had a serious heart problem whilst abroad on holiday. Thankfully he received excellent treatment and is now recovering well. I'd like to support research that has undoubtedly prolonged his life.

Pauls sudden death at the age of 44, two days after his wife Karen, was told she had recovered from the rare cancer sarcoma, left his special wife and 2 children (who are similar ages to mine) without this gentle man. Their story is so tragic, yet this family is so brave and continue to inspire others by their actions. They started raising funds in his memory and I want to support their efforts as part of my adventure.

Please give generously, although all donations of any amount are most welcome and thank you very much in advance.

Kind regards

Neil x

Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.
