My story

[p]2014-06-30Hi, thanks for visiting my page. [/p][p]I have now completed the London to Paris ride. We ended up cycling 320 miles in 4 days. It was a tough challenge at times but the scenery was lovely and weather were kind and we had a great trip overall. The full story is on www.davisgrantblog.com.[/p][p]Below is the original text from before I went and your support will still be very welcome by Haven House.[/p][p][/p][p]I am cycling form London to Paris between 18-21 June. That is approximately 300 miles in 4 days. Whilst I'm a regular weekend cyclist doing between 40 & 60 miles a ride, this is still a big challenge for me.[/p][p]It's not one day in particular that is of concern, although the first day of 85 miles to Dover will be hard!!, it's the back-to-back long rides that will be difficult, needing to quickly recover for the next day.[/p][p]The group includes 4 of my normal cycling crowd plus 2 others we have not yet met. Although I have trained for this, it is fair to say I'm not as prepared as I could have been. Oh well... I will just have to grind it out and consume more coffee and chocolate croissants to get through!![/p][p]In the picture, I was using an electric powered bike, but that was a one off whilst on holiday - London to Paris is leg power only!!![/p][p]This is a self-funded trip so all your donation goes to the charity. This time I have chosen Haven House Children's Hospice, a local children's hospice that does wonderful work for very ill children. You can find more details about them from the link on the left and at www.havenhouse.org.uk[/p][p]Your generosity will really help motivate me and get me through the hard parts of the ride, so please dig as deep as I will have to. I really appreciate your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]You can follow the challenge on my blog at www.davisgrantblog.com and on twitter at twitter.com/Neil_Driver[/p][p]Many thanks again[/p][p]Neil [/p][p][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, your sponsorship and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p]
