[p]On the 25th April, I will be taking on one of the toughest one day bike rides in the world, the Mallorca312. As the race website proclaims, only the bravest dare to take on the 5,500 meters of climbing that you face during this 312 kilometer cycle race. Somehow, I wound up being one of those people.... [/p][p]You may ask what has driven me to take on this challenge. I can't think of a more worthy cause. The Cameron Bespolka Trust was set up by my friends Kevin and Corinne after they lost their son Cameron six years ago. Cameron was a passionate naturalist and birder and this charity has been set up to continue his love and appreciation of nature. Inspired by Cameron's ambition to encourage other young people to share his passion, the charity aims to create opportunities for young people to connect with the outdoors by promoting programmes that involve conservation, wildlife, habitat management, environment and climate change. The Trust's major project at the moment is to renovate Cameron's Cottage and Field Study Centre in the middle of the RSPB reserve in the New Forest. Work will commence in the spring and the Cottage will accommodate up to 18 young people from all walks of life for residential stays, immersed in nature. For more information, please check out their website: www.cameronbespolka.com[/p][p][br][/p][p]Please support me in anyway you can to help raise funds for this incredible charity. This cause is very close to my heart. I have supported them through a number of challenges over the last few years and am very proud to take on this most daunting bike ride to support them once again. [/p]
