My story

[p]In 2020 we are continuing to raise much needed funds for our new Cancer Centre in Rugby, this unit is called The Maple Unit and is located next to blood taking in Rugby. It has taken 3 years to bring Cancer Services to Rugby and we are so proud to say we did it! [/p][p]We hope the legacy of Arden Angels continues for many years to come and helps the future of Cancer in Rugby. Cancer is a devastating disease, not only for the patient but for the family and friends involved. It turns lives upside down and changes you and your future dramatically and we just want to help others and their families and friends.[/p][p]My dream started as raising £1000 for one new chair for the Arden Centre in Coventry where I have been receiving treatment for the past 7 years, sadly this has now turned to Palliative Care and along with the wonderful team of NHS professionals and the support of Myton Specialist Nurses, I am still here fighting the good fight supported by my wonderful wife and my amazing Arden Angels, I do not ever think their will ever be enough words for me to thank you, I am truly grateful and will carry you all with me to the angels tight inside my heart.[/p][p]Due to Covid 19 we have had to postpone many events from 2020 and hope to be able to continue into 2021 and beyond as the country starts to return to our new normal. We hold many events throughout the year to include Sky Dives, Wing Walks, Wolf Runs, Charity Head shaves and anything else we think of. Our Charity Christmas party was postponed last year, hopefully this will go ahead in 2021 and we will dance on the tables and raise loads more cash. Everything is up to Covid -19 and any restrictions it may bring.[/p][p]We were very lucky to be nominated for Charity Supporter of the Year in 2020 and we WON! Totally overwhelmed and an honour to receive such a prestigious award from our NHS.[/p][p]If you have an idea for fundraising or would like to join the team of Pink Angels (Male/Female or Child) we would welcome your support, be sure to get in touch. We have recently had our name left in wills for donations and we truly thank everybody who shows support to our wonderful Arden Angels.[/p][p]Thank you so much for your continued support, it means the world to us.[/p][p]With love [/p][p]Nickie, Tracie and the Angels xx[/p][p][br][/p][p]A little bit of our history is below if you would like to learn more of our story:-[/p][p]On July 14th, 2019, 10 crazy ladies and a surprise jump from our founder Tracie Townsend-Mills we jumped 13,000 feet and raised over £10,000 for The Arden Centre, we then went on to recruit a further 30 plus Angels and raised another £20,000, the success continues with many more events and jumps year after year, all now focused on the future of cancer care in Rugby, our home town. [/p][p]The Arden Centre, Coventry and now the new Maple Unit, Rugby is where all cancer patients in the Coventry and Warwickshire area go to receive treatment before, during and for the many years that follow treatment and diagnosis. [/p][p]This is our founder "Tracie's" story :-[/p][p]This crazy lot are doing this on my behalf, I originally wanted to do the jump and try and raise 10k myself, like I did 5 years ago when I raised 11.5k for Breast Cancer Care. Unfortunately, I was told in November 2018 that the disease had spread to my lymph nodes and chest wall and I could not jump, little did they know at this time I was surprising them regardless. I have since been told that the disease has continued to spread and has now gone to the muscle, breast cancer in the muscle is very rare and there is only a 0.2% of this happening. Most recently the disease has spread further into my right hand side and neck and shows further involvement in my lungs and further nodes. I am actively fighting with all I have despite now being under Palliative Care as the disease is totally incurable and sadly growing as quick as weeds. Since day one have I wanted to give something back, the Arden Centre has helped so many and now the Maple Unit will follow in its footsteps, all of us know someone affected or is a friend of a friend or has a family member facing this disease. My diagnosis is very poor but I will go down fighting. [/p][p]Please contact us @millsey@live.co.uk or our Facebook page Arden Angels to get involved or support. We are always the nutters in PINK.[/p][p]Every single penny helps, if just all of your Facebook friends donated just £1, this would make a massive difference to our fundraising.[/p][p]May I personally take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of the Angels for everything that they do and continue to do. [/p][p]There is no I in team and together we ARE making a difference ♥[/p][p]I WILL RAISE 100K BEFORE I DIE........[/p][p]Much Love[/p][p]Tracie xx[/p][p][br][/p]
