My story

[p]Some People may think we are crazy as on the 12th May, Myself and Alex are getting in the ring to raise money for some Special Charities. Both of us are training really hard with the help of Victoria at Future Fit, But none of us are facing the challenges that many people face on a daily basis that suffer with different Illnesses. The 3 Charities we are supporting provide help, guidance and hope to some special people in our lives and take just a little bit of pressure away as well as searching for cures.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Keech Hospice Care helps support Adults and Children with terminal and Life limiting Illness, For me they have supported a special little lady Orla Hermitage, who at 10 months was diagnosed with a large inoperable brain tumour. Now at the age of 6 she has undergone 11 operations and has had 2 and half years of palliative chemo, She is currently undergoing stronger aggressive treatment as well as having weekly blood tests. To me Orla and her family are truly remarkable and have some fighting spirit with the challenges they face daily. [/p][p]JDRF is being supported by Alex on behalf of her daughter Meg who has Type 1 Diabetes. Meg would like to describe in her own words about the charity:[/p][p]I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes just before my 10th birthday, it was a big shock and 4 years later i still battle with this cruel disease everyday. My Mum is bravely fighting for the JRDF as they are committed to finding a cure for Type 1 so that other children like me are able to live like all other children our age.[/p][p]Ehlers- Danlos- Support UK, based locally in Borehamwood, is the only Uk charity exclusively dedicated to the Ehlers- Danlos syndromes or EDS, a little- Known and misunderstood collection of genetic connective tissue disorders which affect the whole body. There are different types of EDS with distinct symptoms which have a major impact on people’s daily lives. Symptoms are widespread from frequent joint dislocations to chronic pain and fatigue, eating, bowel and bladder problems to severe dizziness and fainting. One type of EDS is life threatening. The charity aims to improve the lives of those living with EDS by providing support and advice and works to improve medical education about the conditions.
