Team story

[p]Most of us have experienced headaches at some point during our lifetime, however with the help of either painkillers or some other form of natural remedy, we are, within a relatively short period of time, able to combat the discomfort that we are experiencing and get on with our day to day lives.[/p][p]For cluster headache sufferers, they are not quite so lucky and are probably experiencing what has been described by leading neurologists as the most severe pain known to mankind.[/p][p]A cluster headache is a rare neurological disease estimated to affect less than 0.2% of the population. The pain is absolutely excruciating and affects one side of the head or face. Most sufferers will at the very least contemplate, if not actually attempt suicide because of this pain and the term ‘suicide headache’ is a very real one.[/p][p]The cause of a cluster headache is not yet known and there is currently no cure. As you can imagine going through pain such as this, at times in excess of 8 times a day, will have an extremely serious effect on daily life and personal relationships. This condition not only affects the sufferer but also their family and friends around them. We have both seen first-hand how this debilitating condition can cause the most outgoing person to become virtually house bound, isolated and unable to carry out the most simple of daily tasks. This is not just on occasions, this is every single day of the week.[/p][p]We desperately need to raise awareness and find a cure for this condition and through the Organisation for the Understanding of Cluster Headache (OUCH), together, we think together we can do this![/p][p]So, where in all of this do we come in? Well, we are going to jump out of a plane in order to help raise funds for the OUCH charity! OUCH are only a very small charity, however they provide invaluable support for sufferers of cluster headaches and their families and they are working tirelessly to increase the public awareness of the condition. [/p][p]We were due to jump on 11th July 2020, however Coronavirus unfortunately put a stop to this. We also didn't feel comfortable about asking for donations during the lock-down period when we were all experiencing and going through such an uncertain period of time. We have however now re-booked and weather permitting, the skydive will now take place at midday on Saturday 26th June 2021 and we will be jumping from 10,000 feet! Total madness we know, however, we are doing this for OUCH to help raise awareness of this terrible condition and to show that their help doesn’t go unnoticed. All of the work that they are doing is of paramount importance and we hope that one day a cure will be found.[/p][p]We thank you for taking the time to read our page. We are in no way asking for donations now, however if we can call upon you to donate an amount (no matter how small) at some point when times have improved to such a worthy cause we would really appreciate your kindness.[/p][p]Thank you[/p][p]Nic and Caitlyn xx[/p][p] [/p]
