My story

[p]At the end of a school re-union lunch one of my contemporaries spoke about an annual fund raising cycle ride he organised to raise money for a children's charity in Guildford. [/p][p]The charity is The Halow Project and it supports young people (aged 16 to 35) with learning difficulties who live in the Surrey area. The aim of the charity is to assist these young adults, as much as possible, to live independent lives. It is an incredibly worthy cause.[/p][p]My clear recollection though is that the ride was described as being from London to Guildford, over three days; I therefore put myself forward. [/p][p]I now have cause to regret this. [/p][p]The ride is indeed from London to Guildford, but via France. I'm sure this little detail was omitted.[/p][p]As such I will be cycling 250 miles, across two countries, in 48 hours.[/p][p]I bought a bike only 4 weeks ago; the ride commences on Friday 3 May![/p][p]My training is therefore not as honed as perhaps it should be![/p][p]This is going to hurt.[/p][p]Please give generously! All the money raised goes to the charity.[/p][p]Sincere thanks[/p][p]Nigel x[/p]
