My story

[p]Well the Manchester Marathon, like everything else, was cancelled. However with 10 weeks training done it seemed a shame to waste it. I intended to run on my own, from my gym, on Saturday 21st......[/p][p]on Friday 20th all gyms were shut!![/p][p]So I did run, but laps from my house, on my own. I used a Garmin watch to track my distance on the 4 mile course, but after about 18 miles it lost the GPS signal. I didn't realise until much later.[/p][p]I kept going until I had run 42.2kms on the watch, but the last 2k were really hard. There was a reason for that........because I'd lost the signal I subsequently worked out I had actually run in excess of 46km (about 29 miles).[/p][p](Original message) It will be 5 years since I ran a marathon and to that point I'd started 5 and finished 4. Each one was an extreme challenge to me and as I'm nearly 60, this one, will be, possibly, my last attempt. I'm running with my daughter Katie with whom I completed my first marathon in 2012. I'm hoping to raise money for Railway Children who I have run for before. You can read about their work on the link below. Finally, (with my financial adviser's hat on), if you donate, and you are eligible, please ensure you gift aid any donation to make it even more beneficial.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Previous Donations: [/p][p]26-Mar-2020[/p][p]Nic G[/p][p]£20.00plus £5.00 Gift Aid[/p][p]24-Mar-2020[/p][p]Nat[/p][p]Well done Nigel - the first social distancing marathon! - for a good cause.
