[p]PLEASE HELP SUPPORT CHILDREN AND FAMILIES AFFECTED BY LIFE THREATENING ILLNESS OR BEREAVEMENT. [/p][p]Daisy’s Dream offers support completely free of charge. Each year it costs Daisy’s Dream around £40,0000 to support the hundreds of children who access their service. They do not receive any money from either central government or from local authorities and therefore rely on local communities to help raise money so that they are able to continue their crucial and vital support to children and families in need. [/p][p]What Daisy’s Dream does: [/p][p]They offer a flexible service which is tailored to meet the individual needs of each child and their family. This may include:[/p][p]o Telephone support and advice for parents/carers/professionals[/p][p]o Home and school visits for the child or young person[/p][p]o Group events[/p][p]o Training for associated professionals[/p][p]What Daisy’s Dream Believe:[/p][p]The death or serious illness of someone close can have a devastating effect on a child or young person. With the right support and information however, children and young people can be helped to understand what has happened and learn to move forward in a positive way.[/p][p]They believe that no child’s future should be defined by a death or a life-limiting illness within the family. Given time and support, they believe that children and young people can learn to cope with the changing dynamics of their life and ultimately move forwards in a positive way.[/p][p]Research shows that, without the opportunity to express and explore their grief, bereaved children and young people may be at risk of future health, social and educational difficulties and disadvantages. This is in addition to the impact of the bereavement on their emotional health and well-being.[/p][p]My Story: [/p][p]In April 2010 my family and I sadly lost my mum to a two-year battle with cancer. My whole family was and still is devastated by the loss of such a wonderful woman; Wife, Daughter, Mum, Grandmother and Friend to many. We were unaware of Daisy’s Dream at the time and therefore had to muddle through and “deal” with the grief alone. It’s nearly 9 years on and not a day goes by when we do not think of her. Losing someone so close to you feels like your heart has been shattered into a million tiny pieces. Daisy’s Dream is there to help and support children and families pick up and glue back together those pieces. [/p][p]I personally know how illness and bereavement affects your everyday life, so I want to do all I can to help someone going through this pain. Therefore, on 28TH APRIL 2019 I WILL BE RUNNING LONDON MARATHON RAISING MONEY FOR DAISY’S DREAM (just so you know, I hate running and I am awful at it! But I will get through it because I know it’s for a great cause).[/p][p]As some of you already know I am also heading off to America for 10 weeks (yepppp just before the marathon! :/ ) making it a million times harder for myself ( as usual! hahaha) . I will upload pictures as I go running round each State ( to prove I'm not just sat there stuffing my face). [/p][p]Please find it in your hearts to donate some money to this fantastic charity and help those who really need it. [/p][p]Thank youuuuuuuuu xxxxxx[/p][p][br][/p]
