That's a [b]100 km[/b] hike (or [b]62.5 miles[/b] in old money) over the Yorkshire Dales National Park in [b]under 30 hours[/b]; an event that started life as a Gurkha training exercise.[lt]/span[gt][/p][p][span=color: #000000;][lt]span style="color: #ff0000;"[gt][lt]span style="color: #000000;"[gt]It is the equivalent distance to [b]2.5 marathons [/b]or [b]3 times [lt]span id="misspell-4"[gt]across[/span] the English channel[/b] (only with the joyous addition of hills and sleep deprivation)![lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][lt]/span[gt][/p][p][span=color: #000000;]Our ragtag team of team of reprobates have this to say:[lt]span style="font-style: italic;"[gt] [/span][span=font-style: italic;] [/span] [lt]/span[gt][/p][lt]div[gt][p][span=font-style: italic;][b]Nick:[/b] '[/span][span=font-style: italic;]Yesterday This Day's Madness did prepare;[lt]br /[gt]To-morrow's Silence, Triumph, or Despair:[lt]br /[gt][/span][span=color: #ff0000;][lt]span style="color: #000000;"[gt]WALK[/span][lt]/span[gt][span=font-style: italic;]! for you know not whence you came, nor why:[lt]br /[gt][/span][span=color: #ff0000;][lt]span style="color: #000000;"[gt]WALK[/span][lt]/span[gt][span=font-style: italic;]! for you know not why you go, nor where.[/span][span=font-style: italic;]' ...[/span]" - Omar Khayyam (paraphrased)[/p][p][b]Anna[/b] "Aaarrggh, 100km with no sleep! Unfortunately I'm better at locating the couch than north these days" [/p][p][/p][p][b][span=text-decoration: underline;]Why are we [lt]span id="misspell-6"[gt]entertaining[/span] this madness (or where will your money go)?[lt]/span[gt][/b][/p][ul][li][span=color: #000000;][b]Emergency response[/b][/span]: People need help in an emergency – fast. Oxfam save lives, swiftly delivering aid, support and protection; and Oxfam help communities develop the capacity to cope with future crises.
