My story

[p]I am running in the 2018 London Marathon for a charity very close to my heart, Holding On Letting Go. This Kent based charity do an amazing job supporting bereaved children. My young sons lost their father very suddenly in 2016. Telling them that daddy had gone to heaven was the hardest thing I have ever had to do. They sobbed their little hearts out. They were just 7 and 10 at the time. It is so hard to comprehend the pain a child goes through when a parent or someone close to them dies. My boys, of course, struggled. They loved their father very much and to lose him has been devastating. The week of their daddy's funeral, they also lost their granddad! Holding On Letting Go was recommended to me, and they have been fantastic! My boys attended a support weekend, where they got to meet other bereaved children, and to share experiences, let go of some of the anger and pain and hold on to precious memories. The staff and volunteers are incredible and really helped my sons. This is a small charity who offer much needed support to bereaved children. They have great plans to expand and develop the support they are able to offer and need further funding to make this happen; they could do so much more and help so many more children if additional resources were available. Whilst my boys are moving forward, this is a long journey, and I cannot thank the team at HOLG enough for their support. My eldest son said "they helped me manage my anger when I was upset, and we got to make friends and understand their experiences. This really helped me and my brother". Please help me in raising much needed funds for this amazing charity! Thank you x[/p]
