My story
[p]www.OCDwalk.com[/p][p]Hi there, my name is Tom Clancy, 31, and this summer I will be walking the length of the UK - from John O'Groats to Lands End - to change the way people think about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - OCD.[/p][p]I want to raise awareness for what is an extremely misunderstood and misrepresented mental health condition, and to help those who are suffering.[/p][p]Unfortunately OCD has defined my life for the last 11 years. My twenties - supposedly the best time of a persons life - characterised by fear, perpetual anxiety, stress, self-doubt, self-hatred, depression. Living with OCD is terrifying. At my lowest, OCD made me question whether life was even worth living. It took this lowest point in 2014/15 for me to realise that I couldn't do this alone anymore and that I needed help. [/p][p]11 years may sound like a long time, but worryingly 10-15 years is actually an average. Sufferers may be unaware that the mental torture going on inside their head - caused by Intrusive Thoughts and Images - is actually OCD; that it is diagnosable, that other people are experiencing it and that there is help! Sufferers may also be scared to speak out because of the subject matter of their thoughts or because they are afraid of what others may think of them. As someone who suffers from OCD every day, I am concerned about the number of people out there who are suffering alone, in silence. People do not know the truth about OCD.[/p][p]For this reason I have decided to undertake the #OCDwalk. I'm not going to lie, I'm terrified - However I will do this. I've never done anything like this before. What I am, is determined.[/p][p]I would love you to get involved in any way you can. Please spread the word! If you are suffering from OCD, know someone who is, or would just like to support the cause please come and walk with me; it would be great to have your company. I will be walking via the Three Peaks of Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon on the way down and I would love to turn these into bigger group. Events where OCD sufferers can meet one another, realise they are not alone in this, and that things can get better.[/p][p]Visit www.OCDwalk.com for more information about OCD, help and support, my story, information on the charities, ways to follow me on social media, and more.[/p][p]Please share this information in any way you can. Whatever you do, please get involved.[/p][p]Thank you![/p][p]Tom[/p]

Good on you Tom, the dedication you've shown is nothing short of inspiring. We may not have gotten to meet up in Cornwall but you've always got me as a friend on the site, also as a fellow OCD sufferer I shall endeavour to live a little better with it.
