My story

[p]Yin and Yan, up’s and down’s, its written in countless philosophies, well last year I truly began to understand what this meant.[/p][p][br][/p][p]Professionally the most fulfilled I have ever been, personally things were not so smooth. In February we lost a friend who was just 50 years old, in May a cycling accident for me saw an estate car hit me head on at speed causing me some unpleasant injuries.[/p][p]In June we said goodbye to my last grandmother, who whilst elderly has left a vacuum in our families equilibrium. Then another funeral in July for an old colleague. [/p][p]Then, July, the bombshell, my mother in law who had been diagnosed with Lung and bone cancer in December 2018 received the news that treatment had failed. There were no more new roads to take. Helplessness is not a word my generation has had to use too often. We’ve grown up for the most in comfort and most problems are fixable, your health is not always guaranteed and when you hear that nothing more can be done frankly it’s very hard. Cici, Irina’s mother lost the fight in August 2019 only just into her 60’s, this has added to the imbalance of re-building our family in its new smaller format. [/p][p]So, here I am asking for some support as I take on a year of challenges. I entered 2020 in poor fitness, and as a 43 year old Asthmatic I intend to remedy this. So what’s the goals?[/p][p]SO, Covid 19 update. As you may have seen, events 1 & 2 completed, (2nd on the indoor trainer :( ). 3 and 4 and 5 will now be 2021, I will add in two new events to fill the gaps in the first half of 2021!!! [/p][p]1.) London February 9th, Winter Run, closed road, 26,000 runners 10km *to warm up, this was cancelled so i switched it to the Newbury 1/2 marathon... in rain, hail and an electrical storm.[/p][p]2.) Tour de Flandres April 3rd, 176km across Belgium’s Flemish Ardennes fast flats and then brutal short climbs to stretch the goals, horrible on the roads, even more horrible on a turbo trainer... done...[/p][p]3.) June – Olympic distance triathlon of Kortrijk, Belgium – this time with two amazing colleagues joining me (Francis Gistelinck and Sebastian Deneuville) to see if I can keep the plan afloat - now 2021[/p][p]4.) July – Pico’s de Vuelta – 800km 6 days, summer in Spain… the big one! - switched to October 20[/p][p]5.) September – New Forest 100km, let’s call it a cool down - will be switched in the magnificat wild one June 2021 - 121 miles, 1100m climbing North Downs... ouch! [/p][p] [/p][p]Sorry for the essay, if you can spare some change it would be very gratefully received, [/p][p][br][/p][p]Best wishes,[/p][p]Owain[/p][p][br][/p][p]PS - I have to mention Novy, who are unending in their support and help, thank you @Novy[/p]
