Team story

[p]Hi, thanks for visiting our page. Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. We really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p][p]The Pekbeken Ali Foundation (PAF) has put together a team of twelve climbers to scale new heights in a bid to raise vital funds for the vulnerable and needy in Bangladesh. The team, made up of seven employees from Johnson & Johnson, one from Easy Jet one  from Jaguar Land Rover and one form the NHS have begun training in order to embark on a grueling trek up the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro, Tanzania in September 2013.  Mount Kilimanjaro is one of the highest freestanding mountains in the world, towering 5,895m above the surrounding plains.[/p][p]The team of climbers will walk up to 10 hours a day for a week to reach the top of Kilimanjaro - an altitude of almost 19,330 feet. But the epic task, funded personally by each climber, will be worth the effort as we hope to raise funds for PAF projects.  This means that 100% of the money raised by the team will go to helping those who need it most. [/p][p]Back in 2012, a team of seven completed the 3 Peaks Challenge within 24 hours and raised over £2,500 which was used to build and furnish a school in Bangladesh. Education is a huge focus for the charity especially since in 2000, only 45% of the populations in Bangladesh were considered literate, and an estimated 25% of 6 to 10 year olds were not in school. [/p][p]The charity aims to provide access to clean drinking water, housing, education and other basic needs which are unobtainable for many of the poor and destitute in Bangladesh.  As well as providing immediate relief through distribution of blankets, water pump installations in homes and the provision of shelter, we have a policy of helping individuals sustain their families through access to decent education and by provision of means to earn a regular income.[/p][lt]p class="yiv915825319msonormal"[gt]PAF would like to thank Chris Fountain, Kirsty Pearce, Steve Endean, Anita Humphrey, Andrea Leuenberger, Richard Kearney, Jonathan Petts, Mark O’Neill, Margaux Lister, Catriona Rae, Gustav Botha  and Mohammed Ali for their dedication to the Mount Kilimanjaro Challenge.[/p][p]Thank you for donating and for more information on the Charity please log on to our website and like our facbookpage.[/p][p]www.pekbeken-ali-foundation.org[/p][p]www.facebook.com/PAFoundation[/p][p]Thank you.[/p][p]The PAF team, Reg Charity 1148259.[/p]
