My story

[p]Thanks for taking the time to visit my Virgin Money Giving page.[/p][p]My son Bastian has a rare chromosome disorder called Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (PMS). It's so rare that he is 1 in 4 million! PMS affects every aspect of his life. He has mobility difficulties including low-muscle tone, sleep problems, behavioural difficulties, medical needs and he is completely non-verbal. He will need additional support for the rest of his life. [/p][p]The Phelan-McDermid Syndrome Foundation UK (PMSF UK) is a registered charity in the United Kingdom. PMSF UK provide a supportive inclusive community for those who have or know someone with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome (PMS). They provide family days and get-togethers and some limited support for additional therapies for the person with PMS.There are approximately 150 people who are diagnosed with PMS in the UK & Ireland and almost 1700 worldwide. Bastian is one of those rare people! All people with PMS have difficulty communicating. People diagnosed with PMS need additional care to support their daily lives.[/p][p]Their website is www.pmsf.org.uk and you can contact them at info@pmsf.org.uk[/p][p]I started running in 2016 to help lose weight and since dropping 6 and half stone with Slimming World I have managed to maintain a healthy weight. I don't find running particularly easy, I'm not fast and I have been plagued with niggles and injuries. I broke my foot in summer 2017 and have constant knee pain which I tape with Kinesiology tape and I have shares in Voltarol! But I LOVE running. I love the freedom of putting on my headphones and music and pounding the streets.[/p][p]Last year I ran Brighton marathon in just under 6 and half hours. I swore never again but here I am already training for April. I'd love to just finish again but if I can improve my time that would be amazing.[/p][p]I run for Bastian! I run for all those individuals with Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. I run for PMSF UK.[/p][p]Thank you for your donation.[/p][p][br][/p]
