My story

[p]Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. [/p][p]I am running the Royal Parks Half Marathon (13.1 miles) in October this year to raise money for Evelina Children's Hospital so they can fund life-saving equipment, continue life-changing research and provide the little comforts that make hospital less scary for the youngest and most anxious patient and their families.[/p][p]George, my youngest son was critically ill in December 2018 with a rare inflammatory condition that affected his brain and spinal cord called ADEM (Acute disseminated encephalomyelitis). This resulted in him being placed into 2 medically induced comas, spending significant time in a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and receiving 5 plasma-exchanges after conventional treatments didn't work for him.[/p][p]Not only did they look after and provide life-saving treatment to George, they also looked after my wife Katie, our eldest son Harry and I as we watched on feeling helpless, powerless and not knowing where this journey was going to take us.[/p][p]Thanks to Evelina’s support, treatment and their ongoing care, I’m please to say George has fully recovered at this time, and unbelievably has no lasting impact on his development.[/p][p]I am hoping to raise as much money as possible for Evelina Children’s Hospital and exceed my minimum target so they can continue to support the sickest children and their families though the most turbulent times.[/p][p]If you can donate to this challenge, no matter how big or small, I would greatly appreciate it and I know every penny will be spent where it is needed most, although I am hoping to split the money between PICU and Savannah Ward as they looked after George during his time with them.[/p][p]I will keep you updated with my training for this challenge as I increase my training over the coming weeks, but please do send me a message if you would like to know more about Evelina and the treatment and support they provided us. [/p][p]Thanks again for visiting[/p][p]Patrick[/p][p]PS: If the fundraising passes the £500 mark, I will run the 13.1 miles whilst wearing a TuTu![/p][p][img][/img][/p]
