Climbing Mount Chimborazo

[p]Kyle (my son) and myself are setting off to Ecuador to start acclimatisation and technical skills training on 12th July in preparation for the ascent to the top of Mount Chimborazo. The peak of this extinct volcano is farthest point from the centre of the Earth and with typical temperatures of between minus 20 and minus 30 will be a huge challenge for us. We are doing it in aid of a wonderful charity, Change of Scene. The charity is based in Farnham and supports children with complex learning, emotional and/or behavioural difficulties often resulting in them being unable to cope with or to fit into school. It provides the one-to-one support that is not otherwise available and a positive life-changing experience to help the children find a path through their troubled lives towards a sustainable way of being. More often than not the children are disadvantaged by circumstances they were born into and have nowhere to turn for the support they need. [/p][p]I've been involved with the charity for ten years now as Chairman, Trustee and fundraiser and have seen first hand what a difference it has made to so many children's lives.
