My story

[p]Starting this week, I will be undertaking the Electrical Industry Charity's 'Challenge for a Cause' in 2018, and helping to raise funds for an extremely worthwhile cause; the Caz Dickinson cause (please see below). You can also find out more about the Dickinson family on the EIC's website[/p][p]I will be combating the elements as our team skis and hikes through arctic conditions and temperatures of below freezing to complete our challenge, over five days. My main aim is to support the Dickinson family, and my secondary aim is to challenge myself for a cause, and hopefully show that 62 is the new 42...[/p][p]Caz Dickinson spent 15 years working in the electrical industry (the industry in which I work) until her life changed. In 2009, Caz suffered a coughing fit and suddenly collapsed, hitting her head on the bathroom floor. She was rushed to hospital where she was diagnosed with a Grade 4 brain haemorrhage, which has left irreversible brain damage. The family has struggled without financial aid. The ongoing expenses, combined with Caz's husband being made redundant, resulted in the family losing their home in 2013. [/p][p][vmgvideo class="ql-video" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen="true" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/1TW_BVPuCpc?showinfo=0&rel=0&iv_load_policy=3"][p][p][p][p][/vmgvideo][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and all donations will be rapidly processed and passed to the EIC. Together we hope to raise £250,000 for the Dickinson family to provide them with a lasting family home for Caz's development and care. [/p][p]Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this.[/p][p]Your support is greatly appreciated - and many thanks for any donations.[/p][p]Paul[/p]
