My story

[p]Steve Redgrave famously announced his retirement in Atlanta, 1996, after winning his fourth Olympic gold, saying: "I hereby give permission to anybody who catches me in a boat again to shoot me". I muttered a similar sentiment after finishing the 2009 London Marathon in the less auspicious position of 5,796.[/p][p]Steve went back into training and won a fifth gold in Sydney in 2000. A decade on, I have gone back into training, and will be content to finish the course in London on 28 April 2019. (Deep down, I'm still a little bit competitive and will only be happy if I can run the 26.2 miles faster than I did 10 years ago!). [/p][p]This time, as in 2009, I am proud to be raising funds for Zurich Community Trust (ZCT, https://www.zct.org.uk/en-gb/about-us). ZCT works in partnership with charities in the UK and overseas to improve the quality of life for disadvantaged people. [/p][p]It was through Zurich Community Trust that I had the privilege of working with a charity - the Association for Promoting Social Action (APSA, https://www.apsabangalore.org/) - in Bangalore, India in 2008. I was able to build a management information system for APSA, and APSA in return gave me daily life-affirming experiences the kind of which I may never experience again. [/p][p]I am aiming to raise £2,000 for ZCT to continue to support the work of charities like APSA and would really appreciate your support and donations! [/p]
