My story

[p]Since retiring from my career as a pharmacist cycling has become something of a passion! For some time the challenge of LEJOG has appealed to me and so this year I have decided to do the challenge plus the bolt on of the Isles of Orkney and Shetland. Whilst primarily a personal challenge I was hugely impressed by the achievement of Rev Peter Langford who last year rode LEJOG at the age of 85 years and raised £22,000 for local and national charities and would love to help the three charities below:[/p][p]The School for Peace is a small Beccles based charity aiming to raise awareness and improve education in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The school, in the south of Congo (Tshamalale near Lubumbashi), was set up to educate some of the thousands of refugee children, many of them orphans, who had fled from war in the east. There are now just under 1000 children attending the school aged between 3 and 18. There is little quality state education in Congo; the school is simply trying to improve the lives of the many children who would otherwise be on the streets. [/p][p]Worlingham’s 13th century church is in need of significant repairs and adaptation. The south wall is deteriorating due to inadequate guttering and ingress of water. A toilet and kitchen area are also much needed. Over £100,000 needs to be spent on the building.[/p][p]CRISIS is a national charity for homeless people. It helps people directly out of homelessness and campaigns for the changes needed to solve it altogether.[/p]
