My story

[p]My wife and I both worked at Royal Cornwall Hospital for 36 years. I was in the Haematology Laboratory and involved in the implementation of the Peninsula Medical School, Liz was a Sister on Delivery Suite. We both retired two years ago. In June 2018 I suffered a major heart attack being admitted to the Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, the Coronary Care Unit and the Cardiac Investigations Unit and having extensive treatment over ten days. During this time the care I received from staff was exemplary, they were kind, professional and caring. [/p][p]After discharge I recovered supported by the superb NHS Cardiac Rehabilitation Team at Helston Hospital and Sara at Morgan’s Gym. My family and I are extremely grateful to all the Cardiology Team for putting me back on my “bike” to enjoy a healthier and satisfying future retirement. [/p][p]With my daughter Claire, I aim to use this second chance now my heart has been “replumbed and rewired” to raise some money for the Cornish Heart Unit Fund. We are cycling the London-46 on the 4th August 2019 to show my appreciation of what the Cardiology Team at the Royal Cornwall Hospital did to save my life last year[/p]
