My story

[p]Who'd have thought it - Philippa running the London Marathon and she made it in 5hours 15minutes and 17 seconds![/p][p]On 4th October 2020 I will be running/walking the Official 40th London Marathon 2020....virtually. [/p][p]I will be aiming to complete the 26.2 miles in and around Thame roughly following the Thame 10k. If you are around/local on the 4th I would love your support as it is going to be a challenge. I'm starting at 8.30am taking approx 1hr 10mins per lap (4 laps). Please message me if you'd like more details. My training was all on track, but a shoulder injury last month set me back but I am determined to complete it after all this time training and preparing.[/p][p]It has been on my bucket list for (on and off) nearly 40 years and having applied secretively for the last 3 years I finally got a charity place in the hope of raising some much needed funds for The Dignity and Hope Foundation, Cambodia (DHF) which I helped set up in 2013 following my first visit to the country in 2012. [/p][p]DHF support organisations and individuals in Cambodia running projects to help the people of Cambodia to free themselves from poverty with dignity and hope. Such projects include well drilling for clean water, building latrines, enabling children to have a good education, educating vulnerable people against trafficking, etc. offering sustainable micro loans and educating the youth of a village using IT. This work is even more crucial now due to the impact of Covid-19.[/p][p]My inspiration for doing the Marathon has come from the people of Cambodia, especially Phany, Director of one of the organisation we have supported; and of course my family, in particular, my lovely Dad who copes so gracefully with his CMT. The chance for me to run the 26.2 miles is now or never![/p]
