My story

[p]Hi! Thanks very much for visiting my page! Please see below to find out about the amazing work that MapAction do, and donate as much as you can spare to help me support their cause.[/p][p][br][/p][p]My Story:[/p][p]So, I’m running the London Marathon on the 22nd April, 2018!! [/p][p]This is the second year I’ve ran the London Marathon and I’m so happy to have this opportunity to support MapAction again. They are an amazing charity who use technical skills to support aid relief in very desperate times. [/p][p]Please take some time to check out MapAction using the link below.[/p][p]Running last year was a massive challenge – it was the furthest I’ve ever run and I had an ongoing knee injury which lead to painful training and doubt I would even complete the Marathon. Luckily an amazing osteopath, Max Secchi, came to my rescue and I completed the run – though a little slower than I would have liked! [/p][p]This year I intend on training harder, with a better knowledge of injury prevention techniques, and bettering my time from last year. I’ll need plenty of support and encouragement to reach my goals - mainly from flapjack, but also from my family and friends. [/p][p]I was overwhelmed with the support I received last year, especially from my team at Landmark Information; my colleagues here are the most gorgeous people I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. It feels harder asking for the same generosity the second time round, but I hope the various cake sales and raffles I will be organising will be tempting enough to get the donations flooding in! [/p][p][/p][p]MapAction:[/p][p]A little word from me first… MapAction do not receive funding from large public appeals, so they rely heavily on their supporters in order to keep their incredible work going.[/p][p]MapAction instantly deploys GIS professions out to areas of humanitarian crisis in order to immediately support the emergency aid responses. Their team of volunteers are made up of people who have normal lives, but drop everything in times of crisis in order to reach the scene within 24-48 hours of disaster striking. I think this is unbelievably admirable, and it will be all I’m thinking about on the day of the marathon to keep me going – if they can do that, I should be able to run a few miles shouldn’t I!?[/p][p]Please follow this link to find out more about MapAction: https://mapaction.org/[/p][p][br][/p][p]Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and an even bigger thank you if you can spare a donation to support MapAction![/p][p][br][/p][p]Thanks so much![/p][p]Pip xx[/p][p][br][/p][p]Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor me and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/p]
