My story
[p]Thank you for visiting our team's fundraising page for the 2020 London Legal Walk 10xChallenge. Though the usual Walk is not able to go ahead this year due to Covid-19, we are still taking part on the 5th October with a virtual 10k where we are. [/p][p]Some of us will also be taking on creative 10xChallenges, where showcasing any skills, talents and fancy dress is strongly encouraged. [/p][p]Our 10,000 Steps for Justice team is: Anita Ives, Camilla Ash, Frankie Bell, Chessie Healy, Charlotte Weekes, Tahnee Wright, Glen Brown, Helen Gray, Clare Mirfin, Nicholle Kingsley, Samantha Drake, Carlos Belda, Amelia Hewitt, Minesh Shah, Tom Cottis, Bayan Jafari-Eshaiker, Alex Hum, Shameelah Khan, Nathalie Goetsches, Paul Galbraith[/p][p]We are walking with the Lord Chief Justice and thousands of lawyers remotely to raise funds for the London Legal Support Trust which funds Law Centres and pro bono agencies in and around London.[/p][p]Two-thirds of the UK population don’t know how to get legal advice and 14 million people who live in poverty can’t afford to pay for it. The London Legal Walk raises vital funds to ensure access to justice for some of our communities’ most poor and vulnerable people. [/p][p]Your support is needed now more than ever with the challenges brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic. Reduced funding in the charity sector means advice agencies are doing all they can to meet rising need despite a drastically restricted income. Emergency applications for funding are pouring in, with advice charities reporting up to a 600% increase in requests for help.[/p][p]The event supports over 100 legal advice agencies in London and the South East. We know that these agencies do a fantastic job in preventing homelessness, resolving debt problems, gaining care for the elderly, fighting discrimination and exploitation.[/p][p]Please sponsor our walkers as generously as you are able.[/p][p]Many thanks for your support.[/p]
