My story
[p]We have PRIDE INSIDE![/p][p]Every summer, town centres up and down the UK are filled with LGBTQ+ people and our allies, as we come together in celebration, protest, unity and solidarity to celebrate Pride. It’s an opportunity for us all to learn about each other - to honour our shared experiences, our differences and our collective resilience.[/p][p]Usually, we’d take it to the streets; we’d take to stages, picket lines and dance floors; we’d climb onboard floats, and walk shoulder to shoulder with our families and friends, but this year that just isn’t going to be possible…. Until now![/p][p]For two weeks in June (15-28th), with the help of the lovely people at ClearChannel, we’re taking over outdoor advertising space all over the UK and filling it with images of LGBTQ+ people celebrating Pride at home. From billboards to bus stops, these images will be seen in over 1000 locations around England, Scotland and Wales with an estimated reach of nearly 10 million people across the campaign.[/p][p]We are also using this profile to raise funds for the LGBT+ Consortium, a national network of charities delivering advice, support and information services to LGBTQ+ communities. All donations made here will be held in a designated fund by the LGBT+ consortium and distributed to local LGBTQ+ charities across the UK.[/p][p]Paul Roberts OBE, Chief Executive of LGBT+ Consortium, said: “Covid-19 is having a real impact on our LGBT+ communities. Pride would ordinarily be a time for the visibility and increased awareness of issues facing our communities. This campaign offers a digital alternative and Consortium is delighted to see the diversity and intersectionality of our communities captured through these photographs. I hope this campaign let’s LGBT+ people know you are not alone and there is support out there.”[/p][p]LGBT+ Consortium is the umbrella body for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans+ voluntary and community organisations across the UK. It has a membership of over 370 organisations ranging from the largest in the sector, with a core focus on grassroots, local LGBT+ initiatives. Consortium works directly with organisations to support them to thrive and be successful, works with policy makers to keep LGBT+ issues high on the agenda, and actively identifies opportunities to bring new income sources into the LGBT+ sector and get funding to where it is needed the most and across the diversity of organisations working with LGBT+ people.[/p][p][br][/p]
