My story

[p]Hello all and thank you for visiting our fundraising page and reading our story.[/p][p][br][/p][p]We are the RAF Lossiemouth Owls Rugby Union Team and this year we endeavoured to knock our charity fundraising out of the park, we just needed an idea. The light bulb moment hit and we decided on trying to break the World Record for the 'Longest Marathon Playing Touch Rugby'. On August 14th 2021 we are aiming to achieve a time of 34 hours, which would beat the current record by just under 30 minutes.[/p][p][br][/p][p]The primary aim of this attempt however is to raise money for a charity close to all of our hearts: The Abbie's Sparkle Foundation, a Scottish Children’s Charity providing support for children with Cancer across the UK. They give children Gifts and Grants, or as they call them “Sparkles” assessed on an individual basis, dependant on need. [/p][p][br][/p][p]Who is Abbie and what is her story:[/p][p]'Abbie’s smile, sparkle and infectious enthusiasm lit up the room and that’s exactly how Abbie wants people to remember and celebrate her life. Abbie (15) passed away on Christmas Day, 2017, after living with Sarcoma a rare form of Cancer, for four years and four months. Christmas was Abbie’s favourite day, she loved it, we believe that Abbie held on and chose the sparkliest day of the year to go. It was the sense of humour and laugh-out-loud mentality, which set Abbie apart and meant she lived every moment to the full. Abbie was a vivacious and talented cheerleader who was hailed by medics as “incredible and a truly inspirational young woman”. One of Abbie’s wishes is to raise money for “Hospitals and stuff” under the charity name Abbie’s Sparkle Foundation'.[/p][p][br][/p][p]As you can see, this young lady is an extreme inspiration and it is testament to her character that she wants to help other children facing the challenges caused by cancer. The charity was set up by Abbie's family and despite being a small, local charity, their sphere of influence is huge. Please visit their website (link below) and have a look for yourselves, so that you can truly understand and appreciate the importance of their hard work.[/p][p]https://abbiessparklefoundation.org/[/p][p][br][/p][p]Finally, we greatly appreciate the support and and any donations you may make to this wonderful charity. We've got our target, let's smash it![/p][p][br][/p][p]Kind regards,[/p][p]Tommy[/p]
