My story

[p][/p][p]Thank you so much to everyone who has sponsored me.  I know how many demands are placed on our hard earned pennies so really really appreciate it.  [/p][p][/p][p]Well, I did it![/p][p][/p][p]So I'm  happy to say that I completed the Great North Run 2013 in a time of 2 hrs 53 mins.  I know it isn't any world record but I am so proud to say that I completed a half marathon before I'm 40! Shush!!!  The weather wasn't pleasant and I struggled from 5 miles with sore knees but I did it and that is all that counts![/p][p][/p][p]Thank you for all helping me smash my target :) [/p][p]Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx[/p][p][/p][p][/p][p]I'm running The Great North Run this year to raise some funds for the Children's Heart Unit Fund (Freeman Hospital in Newcastle) and Little Hearts Matter who have been hugely supportive since we knew Ben had a single ventricular condition. [/p][p][/p][p]Ben has had a marvellous year but we are all too aware that we will be back on the roller coaster again fairly soon.  For the time being we are making the most of having a stable life at home while Ben is fit and well.[/p][p][/p][p]For anyone who knows me, and especially those who knew me at school will know that I can not stand running.... In fact I am rubbish at it and certainly am not built for it physically!   However, seeing the struggles that Ben has had makes those thoughts pale into insignificance.  If he can go through all that he has, then I can jolly well get my trainers on and pound the streets with him in mind. I am aware that it is mind over matter for the most part and I WILL complete it even if it takes me 4 or 5 hours.  [/p][p]He is my inspiration and the images of him both in PICU and now as a bubbly toddler will keep me going on my training.[/p][p][/p][p]I appreciate that many, many people supported Rob last year with his runs but if you feel you are able to donate a little more to support these worthy causes we would be so grateful.  It will also give me a big boost when I'm running!!!  [/p][p][/p][p]With less than 2 months to go, my training has had a bit of a lapse but after a good run yesterday am getting back in the zone!  [/p][p][/p][p][span=-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.296875); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469);] Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. I really appreciate all your support and thank you for any donations.[/span][/p][p][/p][p][span=-webkit-tap-highlight-color: rgba(26, 26, 26, 0.296875); -webkit-composition-fill-color: rgba(175, 192, 227, 0.230469); -webkit-composition-frame-color: rgba(77, 128, 180, 0.230469);][lt]br /[gt][/span][/p]
