My story

[p]Hello everyone,[lt]br /[gt]On Sunday 4th October Simon and I will be running the Chester Marathon.  This will be my first marathon (until I started training my running experience was pretty limited!) - so this will be a big challenge for me.  Simon and I will be joining a friend who will be running his 40th marathon to mark his 40th birthday, along with 40 other runners, all fundraising for a variety of different charities.[/p][lt]p style="text-align: center;"[gt]Simon and I will be running in memory of Joel Prince[/p][p]Joel was just two years old when he was diagnosed with an Atypical Teratoid/ Rhabdoid Tumour, AT/RT, on his spine.  The Rhabdoid tumour is a very rare, fast-growing, aggressive, malignant tumour.  After an amazing life saving operation the tumour was removed.  Joel underwent intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy.  After complications, he started to recover and was doing really well. He had worked so hard to regain some of the movement in his lower body and had started to crawl again, as well as standing and taking a few steps. Then in January this year an MRI scan revealed two more tumours had grown on his spine.  Sadly, Joel lost his battle and passed away, just six months after being diagnosed.  [/p][p]Joel’s family have set up a fund in Joel’s name via Children’s Cancer & Leukaemia Group to raise money to support research and clinical trials for Spinal AT/RTs.  If you can help us to raise money for this amazing and worthwhile cause, we would really appreciate it.  [/p][p]On 4th October we will be running in memory of Joel - we really do appreciate your support – thank you xxx[/p][p](Through Virgin Money Giving, you can sponsor us and donations will be quickly processed and passed to charities. Virgin Money Giving is a not for profit organisation and will claim gift aid on a charity's behalf where the donor is eligible for this. Thank you for any donations.)[/p]
