My story

[p]On the 4th October 2020 I’ve decided to run the virtual London Marathon. All 26.2miles, the only difference is I will be running in Yorkshire. [/p][p]Due to Covid 19 and lockdown a lot of charities have been unable to fundraise. I’ve chosen to support SFAC. Please help me raise some much needed funds for them.[/p][p]I have run marathons before but never with only 7-8 weeks preparation. My last 3 efforts at a marathon have been my worst marathon runs. Problems with heels, calf, lower back etc. So this is no easy challenge for me. I’m focused and training so please donate anything however small or big. It will really help.[/p][p]I am running to raise some money for the amazing charity SFAC (Strengthening Families For abandoned Children). SFAC's Voluntary team of expert social workers, therapists, lawyers and Judges educate, equip and empower adults all over the world. They’ll help anyone who works with, cares for, or makes decisions about children as part of their mission to see children everywhere thrive. [/p][p]I am one of the volunteers who gives my time for free to provide training to professionals all over the world on protecting children, helping decisions to be made so a child does not live in an orphanage or institution. The aim is simple “help train decision makers around the world to develop foster care, kinship/family assesssments, to ensure children grow up in a safe place”. The training is provided online, in the UK and/or abroad.[/p][p]It is important to emphasise the training and materials are provided for free.[/p][p]Whether it be a small NGO in Zimbabwe, or Thailand, or supporting the government and judiciary of Paraguay or Kurdistan-Iraq they are there. They have worked in over 40 countries and been part of change that has seen children's care and protection improve. [/p][p]They aim to support as many organisations as they can for free. They want their training to be accessible to all but that needs your support. [/p][p]£10 = supports an organisation to receive online mentoring session.[/p][p]£50 = a free online training session for a NGO.[/p][p]£100 = training foster carers in therapeutic care of children.[/p][p]See http://sfac.org.uk/ for more details.[/p][p]Thank you for reading my post. [/p]
