My story

[p]I am not very good at this sort of thing, and I have never undertaken charity fund raising since having Ollie, but finally a program has been offered to kids with Norrie’s Disease as long as we come up with £62,500!! That sounds easy, apart from the fact there are only 30 people in the UK with Norries and most of those are completely blind, very deaf, have learning difficulties and have mental health and behavioural problems.[/p][p]That leaves the few of us that are not so severely inflicted trying to raise £62,500!! I reckon about half of the Norrie community are well enough to attempt this.[/p][p]The point of the funding is to try and find a way to stop kids with Norrie disease losing their hearing. Obviously having no sight is bad enough, but to lose your hearing as well is just catastrophic.[/p][p]I am therefore, on behalf of Ollie and the other Norrie kids trying to raise some money.[/p][p]Having conned 3 friends into running the Brighton Marathon for me in April, I have decided I should dig deep and try and run a half marathon. Those of you that live close to me, may have seen me pounding the streets, with a look of pain across my face. On Sunday 13 October 2019 I will be running the London Parks Half Marathon. Rest assured I will never be so stupid as to offer to run anyway ever again – I am not a runner and this training is killing me. I have even had to give up wine!![/p][p]I would therefore be very grateful if you could dig deep and spare as much as you can to enable us to raise the money we need to access the research and funding that Great Ormond Street Hospital is offering. We need to have raised all of this money by February 2020.[/p][p]I have set myself a target of £1000. It is a big ask, but as my friends, neighbours, work colleagues past and present I ask you to dig deep and help me out this once.[/p][p]Yours – eternally grateful[/p][p]Becca[/p]
